The first Snowboard Cross events of the BC Snowboard Provincial Series are happening this weekend at Big White Ski Resort in the TELUS Park. Big White boasts one of the best-known tracks on the provincial circuit. The Snowboard Cross event will feature a FIS category for those athletes looking to qualify for Nationals, as well as age groups (male/female) divided into heats with last chance qualifiers ('LCQ'). The LCQ format allows new and up and coming athletes to compete against athletes in their own age group in a Heat situation (4 riders on course). All athletes in the LCQ format will get a minimum of 2 runs in a Heat situation.
The age groups are:
14 and under
15 to 18
19 and over
30 and over - (new for this event)
Spectators welcome! Come and cheer on Canada's top amateur boardercross racers, or see future 'stars in the making' going head to head in this Olympic sport.
