Crystal Mountain Ski Resort

I think a lot of people forget that we have this little ski resort called Crystal Mountain in Westbank. Many many years ago I skied there. At that time it was called Last Mountain. Yes, that is a very long time ago. I did my first run on that hill and broke my first set of skis as well.
If you live in Kelowna and you want a change of pace from Big White or Silver Star, rip up to Crystal Mountain for the day. I think I'll head up there next week.
Directions:
Crystal Mountain is accessed from Highway 97 at the Glenrosa exit in Westbank. This exit is located between Westbank and Peachland, just north of the Connector and Highway 97 junction. Signs from both directions indicate the Glenrosa exit. Continue to drive another 10 km along Glenrosa Road, with no further exits. This road is right to Crystal Mountain and is maintained by the Province. Please call us at (250) 768-5189 if you require assistance.

Kelowna in Final at Western Canadian Basketball Tourney

Watch the last 60 seconds of Kelowna Owls against RC Palmer Griffins. This is the video I took last night. I have not been to this tournament in many years and what a treat it was. The crowd was amazing and the game was electric. Wanna know how exciting it was? Listen to the crowd. My microphone does not pick up the true db's in the gym. It was LOUD! I will be posting an entire "highlights" game later today.

tagged - Karla Doell - Art Exhibition

Opening Reception: Thursday, February 3rd, 7-9pmWe're pleased to announce Okanagan artist, Karla Doell’s solo debut at SOPA. If we had to categorize or define this newest body of work from Karla Doell in Tagged, it could be called 'photographic montage' or 'compositing' as many in the industry refer to this type of collage. Using layers of graffiti she's unearthed in her travels, and her own photographic imagery, Doell digitally manipulates every piece until the composition becomes a harmonious balance of layers. She considers presentation an important element in her art, particularly in her photographic work. By using metal panels to provide a materiality; Doell successfully incorporates a slightly textured, matt finish that offers warmth and character. In this way, the artwork avoids the standard drawbacks that traditional photography under glass presents.
