Clear Images Photography - MUA/Hairstylist Contest

This is something unique and pretty cool that you should definitely check out.

The Centre Art Gallery
Saturday, January 22 · 12:00pm - 5:00pm
Clear Images Photography
At the Alternator Art Gallery - 421 Cawston Ave.

How will it work?  Each contestant team will be either provided with, or can bring their own model of choice. The models will have had no pre-done make-up or hair done upon arrival, and the contest will begin at 1pm. Each team will have 2 hours to complete their project. At 3pm sharp, each team will have to put down all equipment and the models will begin preparation for their on-site photoshoots. A standard backdrop with lighting will be provided for equal settings for each team. A small 8-10 image shoot will quickly take place for each model. Of these images, the top 2 from each will be put together and edited for final processing to be judged. All contestants will have 1 week of hosting on www.ciphotog.com website for an open to public poll vote. We have decided to avoid any theming for this competition, as we would prefer to see each team bring their own best styles and abilities. Upon closing the votes, the winner will be displayed on the website’s homepage for an entire month, as well as receiving a portfolio photoshoot package from Clear Images Photography, a one year membership to the Alternator Art Gallery, and several gift certificates from the community.

There will be snacks and a mild lunch served, as well as a DJ, JGirl playing some of the funkiest beats around! There will also be a special wine serving from one of our guests. This event will be open to the public, and will be noted in the local papers.

Bonus: Chris will be giving out tickets to Saphires grand opening saturday night to those who come down and show support. You don't want to miss that party.

UBCO party!

Well, its Friday. That means all the students around the world get to party tonight. Sorry if you have an early morning tomorrow..

That's it Guys.... It's the end of an era. Since 1989 Gotcha has been the place to party. Come help us celebrate 22 years of great music, great drinks, and amazing people. Were taking it back to the 90's with $9.00 pitchers of draft, $3.75 highballs and $4.00 bombs (yes I know jagerbombs didn't exist in the 90's).

Come dressed in your best leggings, leg warmers, and crimped hair! DJ Iykze and D:Cue will be breakin it down with the best 90's beats!

I'm sad to see it go but we're on to BIGGER and BETTER things leading into Sapphire...

Hope to see you all there!!!!!!

Your support is appreciated and important - it allows us to offer arts programming to the community and make it accessible to everyone.

Well this was back in 2010, but what a fantastic event. Thanks to Tom Budd for his incredible generosity as well as The Centre for the Arts. Enjoy the video.

Live on Brighton

Live on Brighton! Dream Fueled and all inspired are the boys from the bridge. Jeff and Tanner packed up shop in Alberta and headed out west to track down new band mates and a new music scene. Live on Brighton is four modest guys, from modest upbringings, shooting for the stars. Since forming in 2003 Jeff Fero and Tanner Heerschop have been pumping out tracks in the studio and playing shows all over Western Canada. In 2009 Kris Scott joined the mix with some straight up gorilla smashing, and Harrison, the final piece was picked up just in time to help wrap up the EP and begin shows!!! The band is residing in Kelowna where they are writing for their full length album. With the EP "Octaves and Whoas" released Nov 12th 2010. These guys bring the perfect balance of showmanship and talent to every stage they share, and they are prepping for the onslaught of support touring to begin November 2010. This band is a few good friends doing what they love, and it shines through.

These guys sound fantastic. Enjoy this track from their current work and watch the video after the jump.
